Economic Manifesto

“To what extent do you believe the government should be involved in the economic affairs of the nation?”
I believe that the government should be deeply involved in the economic affairs of our nation. The government is what runs us and is what protects us, they have the responsibility to take care of us and look after us.

Give examples of how the government should play a role in...

Personal taxes:
The government runs taxes and has a responsibility to run them. The government should run taxes in a way that provides enough money supplied to the government to support all of our needs as a country.
Regulating businesses:
The government should should not necessarily regulate all businesses, but larger ones that affect the economy massively should be regulated. Like we discussed in class, if a business that has a large part in the economy is about to go bankrupt then the government should step in and help the business. We don't want massive amounts of people without jobs.
Regulating markets:
Again, I think the government should regulate markets in order to prevent a major crash to our economy. I'm unsure of how this would be done, but we don't want a ton of people to lose their jobs.
Providing services:
I think that the government should provide a lot of services for the public to have access to. They're our government and they're supposed to take care of us.
Protecting its citizens from risk:
Once again, the government is here to protect us. They should be able to provide for the well being of their citizens. This includes protecting them from risk.
